A new report out of Korea claims that Samsung is planning to sell refurbished models of the Galaxy Note 7. The catch is that these refurbished Note 7s would only be sold in emerging markets like India and Vietnam.
Samsung will reportedly pack a smaller battery into these refurbished Galaxy Note 7s. While the original Note 7 had a 3,500mAh battery, the refurbished models will allegedly have a 3,000mAh or 3,200mAh battery.
It’s said that Samsung still has around 2.5 million Galaxy Note 7 phones left, so selling refurbished models could be a good alternative to simply throwing out all of those phones. And while some folks will likely be disappointed that the refurbished Note 7s won’t be sold in the US, it’s possible that Samsung would encounter pushback from regulators after recalling the original Note 7 twice.
Would you buy a refurbished Galaxy Note 7 if you had the opportunity?
