Breweries have been all the rage for some time now, especially within the hipster community as of late, but the process of course goes back thousands of years. In paying homage to time-honored brewing methods, University of Colorado classics professor Travis Rupp is in turn bringing back ancient civilizations through his love for a cold one.
Rupp works on a special projects team at Avery Brewing Company to brew beers the way that ancient Egyptians, Peruvians and Vikings did. As Rupp points out, many believe that the ales consumed centuries ago were bland and unpalatable, but he insists, that’s just not so. These brews are no doubt different from their modern-day descendants, but at the end of the day, there is much more to be appreciated from a pint that is the result of time-tested remedies.
