Huawei Nova 2s official with dual front and rear cameras, up to 6GB of RAM

One day after being teased by the rumor mill, the Huawei Nova 2s has been made officially official.

The Huawei Nova 2s packs a total of four cameras: a 16-megapixel color sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor with f/1.8 aperture around back and 20-megapixel and 2-megapixel cameras on the front. Huawei touts that the rear cameras offer fast autofocus, while the dual front cameras can be used to give your selfies a portrait mode, blurry background effect.

The display on the Nova 2s is a 6-inch 2160×1080 LCD screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio. While it doesn’t have the slimmest bezels we’ve ever seen on a smartphone, they are small, and Huawei did manage to pack a fingerprint reader on the bottom bezel below the display.

Huawei Nova 2s official

Inside the Huawei Nova 2s lives an octa-core Kirin 960 processor and a 3,340mAh battery. When it comes to memory, buyers will have two options: 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage or 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. No matter which model you choose, you’ll also get a microSD slot for adding more storage.

Rounding out the Nova 2s’s spec list is USB-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM slots, and Android 8.0 Oreo running below Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.0 user interface.

The Huawei Nova 2s will launch in China on December 12th. The 4GB/64GB model will cost 2699 yuan ($408) while the 6GB/64GB model will set you back 2999 yuan ($453).

We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on the Huawei Nova 2s before we know how it really performs, but on paper, it looks like a pretty interesting device. It’s packing popular smartphone features like a dual camera setup (two of ’em, actually), an 18:9 display, and slim bezels, plus a large display and up to 6GB of RAM, all for $450 or less. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how widespread the Nova 2s will be outside of China, so most of us may miss out on it.
